Tuesday, October 13, 2020 - Colorado Springs, CO
Industry professionals met virtually this past Monday, October 12th,
to discuss DOCSIS technology including the recent release of the DOCSIS® 4.0
specifications as well as where the technology stands now and how operators
should move forward during implementation. The panel was one of many
telecommunication and technology-related panels scheduled during the SCTE•ISBE
Cable-Tec Expo 2020, A Virtual Experience featured from October 12-15.
The SCTE•ISBE Cable-Tec Expo is the largest learning and networking
event in the telecommunications industry. This year will mark the event as the
first all-digital seminar of the largest cable telecommunications and
technology event in the Americas. The virtual aspect of this year’s event
enables a larger and more diverse group of professionals to take part in the
varied panels. The SCTE•ISBE Cable-Tec Expo is the most renowned venue
for thought leadership, engineering innovation, and deal-making within the
broadband telecommunications sector.
As a part of the Expo, the ‘BTR Technology Panel Presentation:
DOCSIS® On The Road to 4.0’ brought together a panel of industry professional
presenters including Jan Ariesen, Chief Technology Officer of Technetix, Jay
Lee, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Strategy Officer at ATX Networks, Dr.
Curtis Knittle, Vice President of Wired Technologies at CableLabs, and Dean Stoneback,
Senior Director of Engineering and Standards at The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE). The topic of the panel was to discuss the next
steps of 10G strategies that will come with the release of the DOCSIS® 4.0
technology. This technology will enable the next generation of broadband over
cable’s hybrid fiber coax (HFC) networks. It will deliver symmetrical
multi-gigabit speeds while supporting high reliability, high security, and low
latency.
Ben Kley, President of StratusIQ, was invited to join the panel to
discuss the challenges providers face in delivering high-quality services on
both HFC and fiber infrastructures. Ben’s
career experience in operations management from the IT service industry
revolved around reliability and customer service. In 2018 he was
promoted to be the President and GM where he added value and quality
to complete the 4 pillars of the new brand StratusIQ. StratusIQ is proud to be
voted #1 Broadband and Internet Provider in 2020 from the Colorado Springs
Business Journal.
The panel was moderated by Stephen Hardy, Editorial Director and Associate Publisher of the Broadband Technology Report. The Broadband Technology Report is plugged into the technology information needs of broadband professionals.
